Meet Corinne!
Hi, I’m Corinne, a licensed therapist and founder of Rising with Me.
From an early age, I struggled with anxiety and undiagnosed ADHD. My anxiety manifested in perfectionism that had me striving for straight A’s and perfect behavior.
When I was younger, I coped by picking at my skin and hair to temporarily relieve the tension and improve my focus. As I got older, the external & internal pressure to have perfect grades and the perfect body increased. By 16, I had developed an eating disorder to cope with anxiety and to meet my own unrealistic standards.
For years I was trapped in the vicious cycle of counting calories and obsessing over the number on the scale. Things finally changed when I was able to learn how to reconnect to my body in a way that felt safe, trust myself and communicate my needs. I finally understood the neuroscience of my behavior and developed effective strategies to meet my needs.
Today, these are the exact techniques I teach my clients. Through a unique blend of EMDR counseling and nervous system-based techniques, we are able get to the root of the issue, not just the symptoms. It has been nearly a decade since I have had the urge to restrict or binge eat, and the same is possible for you.
It might sound too good to be true, but it’s not. It is possible for you to have an easy and effortless relationship with food and your body, to eat what you want when you want, and to not feel immense guilt or shame about it.
